Chemotherapy is a type of breast cancer treatment that uses drugs to treat various types of cancer, including breast cancer. Usually given before or after surgery. The purpose of chemotherapy is to eradicate the entire cancer cells to the roots, up to a location that is not covered scalpel and at least be able to control the cancer cells so as not to spread more widely.

Two Main Goals Chemotherapy


Chemotherapy is often done for two main reasons, namely to control or eliminate tumors and to relieve cancer symptoms such as pain. This type of chemotherapy is called palliative chemotherapy. While chemotherapy and radiation aims to kill cancer cells or stop the growth of cancer cells remaining. Chemotherapy is the treatment using drugs that aim to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells. Chemotherapy drugs are usually given intravenously or orally. Frequency and duration of chemotherapy depend on the type of cancer, stage, other health problems, types of chemotherapy drugs are prescribed, and other treatment methods are used.
