Two Main Goals Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is often done for two main reasons, namely to control or eliminate tumors and to relieve cancer symptoms such as pain. This type of chemotherapy is called palliative chemotherapy. Another objective is to prevent the chemotherapy does reappearance of cancer cells after surgery or radiation therapy for tumor control.
This type of chemotherapy is called adjuvant chemotherapy. The way the chemotherapy is working with the target and eliminate cancer cells are growing very rapidly in the body. Treatment of cancer depends on the type or the type of cancer and where it came from these cancers. Age, general health condition of the patient and the treatment system also affects the cancer treatment process. In the case of cancer, the main treatment is through:
- Surgery or operation.
- Chemotherapy or by way of provision of medicines.
- Radiotherapy or radiation beam usage.
While chemotherapy and radiation aims to kill cancer cells or stop the growth of cancer cells remaining. Chemotherapy is the treatment using drugs that aim to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells. Chemotherapy drugs are usually given intravenously or orally. Frequency and duration of chemotherapy depend on the type of cancer, stage, other health problems, types of chemotherapy drugs are prescribed, and other treatment methods are used.
